I’m excited to welcome our friends at Sui and the Sui community to Ledger Live. Ledger’s Sui integration into Ledger Live expands the growing universe of assets supported in our ecosystem, and reflects our commitment to open, interoperable networks. Sui is the 73rd chain (!) we’ve integrated into Ledger Live – we now support 86 of the top 100 coins by market cap – and we are working every day to make that support stronger. 

Sui is one of the first blockchain networks integrated under our new program to integrate chains faster and more fully-featured, but more about that later. Ledger Live: Do Everything You Want With Your Crypto, Easily

At Ledger, we build products to allow you to do more with your crypto and digital private property easily and with full control. Ledger Live is your wallet, a hub for managing your digital assets securely in tandem with your Ledger Device. With Ledger Live, you can perform crypto-related operations – seamlessly send and receive assets across multiple blockchains, make swaps, stake, and earn yield.

More than a year ago, we started an ambitious project to eradicate Blind Signing from your daily crypto life. Too many of us have become accustomed to a bad practice – signing transactions we cannot fully read. Even a secure touchscreen can’t protect you if you can’t read what it is you are signing, and at Ledger, we are committed to bringing human-readable signing to our secure touchscreens whenever possible, in tandem with the blockchains and dApps of the world.

Ledger’s Clear Signing approach transforms complex transaction data into human-readable information displayed directly on your hardware device’s secure screen. The truth about digital assets and security is, if you are not Clear Signing on a Ledger device, you are doing it wrong(™) and compromising somewhere along the security chain. To do it right, you must be able to verify exactly what you’re approving on a secure screen before confirming any transaction, eliminating the vulnerability that has led to numerous security incidents. No more signing blank checks!

Comprehensive Integration Within the Ledger Ecosystem

In over ten years, Ledger has built more than just a hardware wallet. Ledger has developed a secure operating system, LedgerOS, and an open development environment on top of smart card (secure element) technology. This allows for a variety of applications, including the apps that support your favorite cryptocurrency and dApps, to Ledger Security Key, which protects your logins, to Ledger Enterprise.

First and foremost, Ledger’s embedded application architecture makes use of secure blockchain-specific apps that run directly on Ledger hardware devices. Anyone can develop an application for Ledger devices using the documentation found at Ledger’s Developer Portal. These applications aren’t limited to crypto and blockchain applications. LedgerOS can be used to secure exchanges, enterprises, and any application that requires security, which is most everything! 

These LedgerOS applications leverage the secure element within Ledger devices to provide chain-specific functionality, while ensuring the private keys never leave the protected environment within the secure element and are never accessed by an application without the user’s explicit permission. This approach maintains maximum security even when interacting with complex blockchain operations. 

LedgerOS and the Ledger-developed applications for Ledger devices are 95% open source and available for review. This commitment to transparency underscores Ledger’s dedication to an open platform ecosystem, where developers can seamlessly integrate their projects with Ledger’s secure infrastructure.

On your phone and computer, integration into Ledger Live provides native application functionality for sending, receiving, and managing assets across multiple blockchains. Sui Integration: Bringing Innovation to Ledger Live

Developed by Mysten Labs, Sui introduces a fresh approach to blockchain architecture with its object-centric data model. It’s built on the Move programming language, specifically designed for safety and flexibility. Sui set out to create an environment where developers can quickly create applications leveraging a suite of tools and services such as Walrus file storage.

The Sui approach enables parallel processing of transactions. This parallelization is made possible by Sui’s ability to differentiate between simple and complex transactions, routing them appropriately for optimal processing.

The Sui integration in Ledger Live delivers a seamless experience by allowing users to manage their Sui assets alongside their other cryptocurrencies in a single, unified interface. This cohesive approach eliminates the need to juggle multiple applications or interfaces when working with diverse blockchain assets. This streamlined user experience makes the network accessible to both newcomers and experienced crypto users alike.
