ETHGlobal Bangkok: Ledger features security-focused projects

Blog posts

Ledger’s partnership at the recent ETHGlobal Hackathon in Bangkok (Nov 2024) showcased diverse projects focused on enhancing digital asset security. Participants developed innovative solutions to improve developer tools, enhance user experience, and explore new use cases for Ledger’s hardware wallets.

Standout projects included “Clearly Vaults,” incorporating ERC-4626 capabilities into the Ledger Clear Signing registry. Another winning project, “Ledger Suite,” provides users with comprehensive portfolio management and security analysis tools, highlighting the connection process between Ledger devices and dApps.

These projects highlight the importance of hackathons for tech firms like Ledger, as they drive innovation and foster a culture of creativity and problem-solving. Ledger’s commitment to these initiatives aligns with its position as a leader in security in the blockchain space, contributing to the broader evolution of the digital asset ecosystem.

LedgerSuite: A Powerful Toolkit for Ledger users and developers

Ledger – BEST LEDGER INTEGRATION 1st place

Ledger – CLEAR SIGNING 2nd place

Ledger hardware wallets are renowned for their robust security in managing cryptocurrencies. But even the best tools can benefit from enhancements. Enter LedgerSuite, a web application designed to elevate the Ledger experience.

LedgerSuite offers a suite of features aimed at improving the user experience. It also gives developers a standout feature called the ERC-7730 JSON Generator. This tool simplifies the creation of JSON files, which is crucial for interacting with smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) in the context of Ledger’s Clear Signing initiative. By streamlining this process, LedgerSuite makes adopting the ERC-7730 standard more accessible.

Beyond JSON generation, LedgerSuite provides a Portfolio Manager to track your digital assets across various networks. This consolidated view helps users monitor their holdings and make informed decisions. Additionally, the platform facilitates multi-chain transactions, enabling seamless transfers of cryptocurrencies across different blockchains.

Built with a user-friendly interface, LedgerSuite prioritizes both functionality and accessibility. Whether you’re a seasoned crypto enthusiast or just starting your journey, LedgerSuite offers valuable tools to enhance your Ledger hardware wallet experience.

Key Features of LedgerSuite:

  • ERC-7730 JSON Generator: Simplify the creation of JSON files for implementing clear signing on dApps.
  • Portfolio Manager: Track and manage your digital assets across multiple blockchains.
  • Multi-Chain Transactions: Seamlessly transfer cryptocurrencies between different networks.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Easy to navigate and utilize, regardless of technical expertise.

The project highlights the use of Ledger’s latest SDKs for secure hardware wallet integration:

  • @ledgerhq/device-management-kit for device connections
  • @ledgerhq/device-signer-kit-ethereum for secure transaction signing
  • Custom Clear Signing implementation for transaction security

Clearly Vaults: Bringing Transparency to DeFi with Ledger

Ledger – CLEAR SIGNING 1st place

Decentralized Finance (DeFi) offers exciting opportunities but comes with risks. One primary concern is “blind signing,” where users approve transactions without fully understanding the details. This can lead to unintended consequences, such as the loss of funds. Clearly Vaults aims to solve this problem for Ledger users.

Clearly Vaults is a project focused on enhancing security and transparency for Ledger hardware wallet users in the DeFi space. It leverages the ERC-7730 standard, which promotes clear signing practices. This means users can clearly understand and verify exactly what they are about to approve before signing any transaction with their Ledger device.

The project targets popular DeFi protocols such as Aave, Compound, and others that adhere to standards such as ERC-4626. By integrating with these platforms, Clearly Vaults aims to provide a safer and more transparent experience for Ledger users across a wide range of DeFi activities.

Here’s how Clearly Vaults benefits Ledger users:

  • Enhanced Security: Mitigates the risk of blind signing by providing precise and concise transaction details.
  • Improved Transparency: Users gain a comprehensive understanding of transaction parameters before signing.
  • Increased Trust: Fosters confidence in DeFi interactions by promoting clear and verifiable actions.
  • Seamless Integration: Works with leading DeFi protocols and standards, ensuring broad compatibility.

Clearly Vaults is a crucial step towards making DeFi safer and more accessible for everyone. Empowering Ledger users with greater transparency and control contributes to a more secure and trustworthy DeFi ecosystem.

Clearly Vaults tackles the DeFi problem of “blind signing” where users approve transactions without fully apprehending the risks. Implementing the ERC-7730 standard allows Ledger users to clearly read and verify transaction details before signing, ensuring they know exactly what they approve. This enhances security, improves transparency, and increases trust in DeFi interactions, ultimately contributing to a safer DeFi ecosystem.

TukTuk Delivery: Bringing Blockchain to Street Food

Ledger – BEST LEDGER INTEGRATION 2nd place

TukTuk Delivery is a decentralized app that connects customers with local street food vendors. This platform leverages blockchain technology to bring transparency, security, and efficiency to savouring your favourite dish.

Ordering with TukTuk Delivery is simple. Browse vendors, place your order, and track its progress in real-time via Push Protocol notifications. Each food package has a unique QR code to be scanned upon delivery. This triggers a transaction on the blockchain, confirming receipt and ensuring that only the intended recipient can claim the order. No more stolen lunches!

But what happens if there’s an issue? Their on-chain conflict resolution system uses tamper-proof records to pinpoint the source of problems. Whether it’s a missing order or a disagreement about the contents, the blockchain provides an immutable record of every step. An integrated on-chain chat enhances transparency, allowing for clear communication and accountability between customers and vendors. Future plans include account abstraction and gas sponsoring. Soon, users won’t even realize they’re interacting with blockchain technology.
