Ledger’s Global Head of Policy Seth Hertlein Joins Blockchain Association’s Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce that Seth Hertlein, Ledger’s Global Head of Policy, has been elected to the Blockchain Association’s 2023-2024 Board of Directors.
The Blockchain Association is a leading non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the future of crypto in the United States, promote blockchain technologies, and shape pro-innovation policies to ensure the success of the Web3 ecosystem.
Seth Hertlein, Global Head of Policy at Ledger, says: “I am honored to have been selected by my peers to serve on the Blockchain Association’s Board of Directors. This role is a unique opportunity to advance pro-innovation policies that empower Web3 users to restore lost agency, privacy and freedom.”
Kristin Smith, Executive Director of the Blockchain Association, adds: “It is a privilege to have Seth join our board of directors. A steadfast advocate for crypto innovation, Seth is a passionate member of BA and will make a strong addition to the board.”
Since arriving at Ledger in January 2022, Seth has built the company’s global public policy strategy and led a team of government relations professionals, addressing the regulatory implications of Ledger’s growing support for Web3 applications, including NFTs, staking, enterprise solutions, transactional services, and more. He also orchestrated Ledger’s response to the EU’s MiCA and TFR regulatory proposals in the first half of 2022, defending core Web3 principles, including financial freedom and digital ownership, and releasing four key policy proposals to EU policymakers.
Seth has deep experience in blockchain policy, having previously served as the first Head of Policy and Government Relations for the Stellar Development Foundation, where he oversaw all aspects of the foundation’s engagement in digital asset policy, legislation, and regulation. Before joining the Stellar Development Foundation, Seth was part of the founding team that opened the Washington, DC office of FS Investments, a leading alternative investment manager, and served as a securities regulator focused on adapting regulatory policy toward the burgeoning fintech industry.
