An “internet-scale blockchain” now supported in Ledger Live
Elrond is a blockchain that offers fast, cheap and efficient transactions. This protocol also provides utility for DApp developers and enterprise solutions alike.
The project depicts itself as “a highly scalable, fast and secure blockchain platform for distributed apps, enterprise use cases and the new internet economy.” According to the company, its smart contracts platform is capable of 15,000 transactions per second, six-second latency and a $0,001 transaction cost.
Elrond blockchain is built with a native token known as eGold, or EGLD, that facilitates the functioning of the whole network. This token’s role is multifold: paying network fees, rewarding validators and paying for transactions and smart contracts.

Combine Elrond and Ledger for an ultimate crypto experience
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned investor, a crucial step for investing in crypto is to securely store your private keys. And Ledger hardware wallets facilitate much more than securing private keys. By pairing your hardware wallet with Ledger Live, you’ll benefit from an all-in-one crypto experience where you can securely buy crypto with MoonPay, make the most out of your coins with Bitrefill, stake ETH with Lido, display your NFTs with Rainbow.me, and manage your DeFi portfolio with Zerion. And the list keeps growing.
